Happy Birthday To Our BOY!

Tears began to swell as I looked up at the monitor and discovered that WITHOUT A DOUBT I was going to have a…

BOY.

I tried to hide my emotion because I didn’t want the girls to wonder why Mommy was crying.
But, my oldest daughter – who’s very tuned into her Momma – noticed my tears, even though I didn’t want her to.
She laid her hand on my arm and softly encouraged, “It’s going to be alright Mommy.”
She knew I had wanted another girl. She knew some of my fears about raising a boy.

I cried on the phone to my sister-in-law.
Friends invited us to dinner – during which, you guessed it, I cried.

I know it probably sounds crazy, even melodramatic, to be so emotional over having a boy versus a girl.
I’m not offended, even if you are rolling your eyes at my drama 🙂
My perspective is so completely different now that it’s hard for even me to see the validity in those early fears and anxieties.

Three days after seeing that revealing ultrasound I was still laden with fears that would not cease.
I was standing in my kitchen trying to prepare lunch but silently praying in my head.
“God, how am I going to do this…”

The Lord broke through those fears in a way that only He can.
I know this whisper… this was the voice of my Father.

“I am giving you exceedingly and abundantly more than you could ever imagine or ever ask for.”

My heart was instantly at peace. A smile crossed my face.
The heaviness lifted… and I knew I would be just fine…
raising a BOY.

Our lives changed.
Our family changed.
Nya has changed.
Elliana has changed.
My husband has changed.
I have changed.

All because God chose to give us exceedingly and abundantly more than I could’ve ever imagined.
I would not have asked for a boy.
God knew I wanted a girl – but He knew I needed A BOY!

Oh. This. Boy.

Trek1 - 1

So sweet. So sensitive. So observant.
All outdoors, all the time.
All into cars, and trucks, and trains.
At my feet wherever I go…
(Unless Daddy is home, then he’s at HIS feet!)
My wrestling buddy.
Daddy’s mountain biking buddy.
Nya’s biggest fan.
Elli’s favorite toy.

We simply adore him.

Oh, don’t worry. He gets his fair share of time-outs, ‘no-no’s’, and flicks.

But all-in-all, this little guy is sweeter than candy…

And growing up way too fast!
