Dear Weary Gardener

Do you ever wonder if what you’re doing really matters to anyone? Ever grow weary in doing good, questioning if it even makes a difference? Do you sometimes think your time could be better spent elsewhere? I do. By noon last Tuesday I was ready to give up on the day. AND THEN! Wow…I was blown away when I discovered THIS… Be encouraged as you read on!

The Master Gardener

We plant. We weed. But who really brings the harvest? It’s a tricky question, isn’t it? It’s human nature to want credit for our labor. We kinda want people to know that we found seeds – we prepared soil – we planted – we watered – we weeded – we harvested. We all want to be seen as valuable, knowledgeable, and recognized for a job well done. There’s something we must understand in this labor of sowing and reaping. If we can grasp this – wow – we will harvest far more than we ever sowed! Here it is…

Living Apart

Most of you already know from Ty’s previous post that he accepted a job as Senior Operator at a natural gas processing plant for Williams Co. in Durango, Colorado. July 1st was his official start date, so with that in sight June flew by as we tried to plan and prepare for yet another move!  […]

So We’re Moving? Again?

Three and a half years ago we shared with the world that we were moving from Alaska to Michigan in the post So We’re Moving? Well, it’s time to share the news again! We are moving to Durango, Colorado! Just four months ago this was not even on our radar but it’s amazing how quickly things change! […]

There’s No Place Like Home

The girls reading up on evacuation plans in case of an emergency landing 🙂  This past April we got to go “home” to Alaska for 7 weeks! Ty had the privilege of working turnaround at Tesoro doing his exact same job that he left over a year ago. Though the days were long he thoroughly […]

Pulled Over

Picture for effect only, I don’t think we have roads like that in Kenai. I got pulled over this morning… I was in town on my way to work at 5:10am and forgot to switch off my high beams. Apparently that’s an indicator of intoxication. Intoxicated I wasn’t, sleepy I was. Let that be a […]

Five saltines in a minute?

It’s that time of the night again… Matt dares me to eat something and as always, I go for it. OK, this one’s not near as bad as yesterday. It’s a little known fact that it’s extremely difficult to eat five soda crackers in one minuteSo there’s really not much to my story other than […]

That’s not a Habañero. Is it?

It’s that time of the week again; Matt dares me to eat something and I naively oblige. This time it was a little red pepper that was sitting on the counter. No monetary incentives since we didn’t know if it would be hot or not, just adventure. I took a bite off the end and […]

Onions Aren’t Like Apples!

So today Matt (AK-49) said he’d give me $10 if I’d take a bite out of an onion like it was an apple. As one who understands the value of ten dollars, I took him up on the offer. Plus I’ve heard of people eating onions like apples before so I thought it couldn’t be […]

Kids With Benefits

I think I just realized why some couples have so many kids… J/K When Nya realized that she wasn’t strong enough to move the rake this game abruptly ended. I’m sure that if she had the strength she would have raked the whole yard for me… OK, maybe that’s a little optimistic, but WE did […]
