There’s No Place Like Home

The girls reading up on evacuation plans in case of an emergency landing 🙂
This past April we got to go “home” to Alaska for 7 weeks! Ty had the privilege of
working turnaround at Tesoro doing his exact same job that he left over a
year ago. Though the days were long he thoroughly enjoyed being back in
that familiar work place with the same crew he’d worked with for
several years!

The girls and I had the blessing of spending our days hanging out with family and friends… it was an incredibly rewarding time.
I could snuggle this little one for hours if she’d let me!
The girls did some baking with Grami Tami (a favorite activity!)

And one of my personal favorite memories …
A Rhino Ride!!
This is our old Rhino that we sold to a nice family before moving to Michigan … they SO KINDLY offered to let us borrow it back!
This favorite memory has also become a bittersweet one…
I lost my camera somewhere in the swamps that night 🙁
So most all of my pictures and videos of our time in Alaska are gone… so sad.
Hanging out with friends as if we’d never left…
The late nights with friends, extended hours of conversation over coffee, and shared tears of joy and sorrow cannot be captured in photographs, so some memories are better captured in our hearts anyways.

Some very special occasions were celebrated while we were there…
Sadie Rae turned 5!
Baby shower for Tera & Silas
Baby Silas being dedicated to the Lord at New Life
Elliana got her ears pierced!
(She purposely waited until we got to Alaska so that Sadie could be there with her!)

We got to visit Uncle Levi’s work ~ the Fire Station!! A very cool experience for all of us!

Memories of sitting beside my mom in church on Mother’s Day, laughing together over pizza, and sharing about our lives still fill my heart with joy…
Visiting with a precious woman who will most likely be with Jesus by the time we get back from Kenya reminds me that life is but a vapor ~ we are here today and gone tomorrow.
The comforts of living with family… cooking together, cleaning together, laughing, crying, playing, and visiting together … remind me that …
there’s no place like home.

… and there’s no place like the Moose’s Loose 🙂
