Summer is off to a great start here in Michigan! The locals have commented that temps have been cooler than average, but we’re certainly not complaining!
These past couple weeks Ty has been focused primarily on completing his first class with Moody Bible Institute ~ The Church and it’s Doctrines. He is enjoying it immensely and doing great on tests and reports ~ I am SOOO proud of him.
So the major house renovations have been put on a temporary hold while he works on that. But in the mean time the girls and I have been playing, refinishing furniture, and … something I thought I might never learn to do… SEW! (will post about that in the next blog post)
We are doing wonderful and settling in well. There is great peace within us, even though we can only see one step at a time. We still wish we could answer the big question “what brings you to Michigan?” with more of a concrete answer in order to avoid fumbling with words and feeling foolish… but we know the One who has called us to this place and He will also reveal the “why?” in due time. For now, the clear step is bible school. And that’s enough “light unto our path” for now.
Big news for Elli is that she is potty trained!!! She still wears a diaper at night in case we have an accident, but she’s gone over two weeks without a diaper! I’m sooo proud of my little Bean!
Nya got to go to her first Vacation Bible School two weeks ago! She and her best friend, Ben, were inseparable as always! At the end of the week there was an outdoor picnic complete with cotton candy, face painting, and bouncy toys!
Ben got to come home with us a couple times after Vacation Bible school and I just thought it was cute that they ended up with coordinating plates with their shirts! These two are so adorable ~ they put most romantic comedies to shame!
Elli was too young to do Vacation Bible School, but this precious little one wants to read her bible or have me read it to her any chance she gets.
Picnic celebration!
Ok I have to post this pic only because I absolutely loved Nya’s hair with this totally whimsical twist bun ~ yes, I’m still Niki.
Hannah and Elli
A few pics of fun on our deck…
Elli and Nick have a very sweet bond and this moment just seems to capture it so well…
The girls washing their beautiful princess bikes from Grami and Papa 🙂
Elli building something with her tools 🙂
Fingernail painting party!
The girls and I have had some fun tackling different furniture refinishing projects with some intentional distressing! (I have emphatically stressed the point that we ONLY hit hammers and chains on furniture that mommy says is ok, not on just any piece!)… so far so good, eeeks.
And the finished product! ~ a dinged up, worn out ol’ pink breakfast nook … and I like it!
Another little project we accomplished were these shelves in our kitchen. The girls helped with the distressing of these corbels after I whitewashed them. You’ll notice that appropriate attire was necessary…
Finished product:
I got to go to the final ‘Deeper Still’ conference in Louisville, Kentucky with some great friends to see Kay Arthur, Priscilla Shrier, and Beth Moore teach God’s word. It was an incredible weekend to say the least! Our loving husbands stayed behind to care for the children ~ what a blessing to have such Godly daddies.
Ty took the girls on a date to Chili’s while Mommy was out of town ~ don’t they look adorable!
A few of those moments where the girls are just caught being cute!…
A sleepover at Ben & Hannah’s house!
Ok, and this one is just funny because well… Nya thought she would be helpful and make lunch, so she came in so proud of herself and said “I made a cheese swamich for me!”
Now… I am resolving to blog more frequently so that I don’t have to cram 2 months of stuff into one blog post. If you made it to the end of this, I commend you and thank you for your patience! 🙂 I will be posting more often but don’t be afraid, they’ll be much shorter 🙂
