Goodness. Where do I start? 

If I had to describe these last 4 months of our lives in one word it would be…
Eventful.

 If it were up to me I wouldn’t have planned for all of these amazing life events to collide within a 4-month period, but I sure am enjoying the ride!

From family vacations, to buying and selling houses, to discovering that we’re having a baby boy …

(and trying to wrap my mind around what that might look like!) it has all been so overwhelmingly joy-filled and continuously exhausting all at the same time.

As much as I’d like to re-cap all these wonderful events and experiences in one blog post and call it ‘done’ I have resolved to focus this one only on the process of working together over these last couple months to sell the town home and renovate the new home we purchased.

I’ll let the pictures tell the story and just add in some commentary as we go!

*Painting*

We don’t do white walls in this family.

I LOVE COLOR.
I love how colors change throughout the day… I love how colors play off of each other… I love how God chose to give us changing colors throughout the year…
Color makes me happy.
This home had stark white walls throughout, but week by week we’ve added color to almost every room. Calm Breeze, Sea Salt, Agreeable Gray, Anew Gray ~ don’t those paint colors seem to whisper peace and calm?

Long days and late nights.

*Flooring*

 Nya was eager to help and learn on this project.

 Elli thought she’d take a crack at ballet while the rest of us worked 🙂

 Nya was quite helpful.

 Elli provided entertainment.

Nya has always enjoyed working side-by-side with someone.

Elli’s more of a designer than a laborer.

I wouldn’t be surprised if someday we’re helping this little one build a house of her own.

*Commercial* 

So, back in January we were asked if we’d be interested in being part of a commercial for Wells Group, the real estate company that we purchased our home through.
Sure! Who wouldn’t?!

A beautiful sunrise the morning they filmed the commercial.

We all got to see what it’s like to have to do the same thing over and over again in order to get the best take. 🙂

*Eating*

Oh, yes, this counts as a category of its own in the house renovation process!
Not only is the pleasure of eating greatly enjoyed when you’re working this hard, but the work it takes to plan and prepare food to take to a place that isn’t home and doesn’t have working appliances is worthy of being noticed (for the mommy’s sake!)

Amidst the long work days I do believe its the moments of silliness that keep you sane!
 

Just another trip to Home Depot

 

 We do our best to train up our children in the way they should go.

 I may have been singing “I’m too sexy” here…

*Packing*

Once the painting and flooring were done we decided to pack up and move
everything over into the new home and continue with renovations and
upgrades as time and finances allow.

 This truly was the easier option…

It was to our great delight that the town home went under contract in only 10 days!
We close at the end of this month ~ wooohooo!

The punch-list of to-do’s, repairs, upgrades, and replacements remains on the fridge and every day it seems like we make some progress. However, life is more than a punch-list.
Life involves children being schooled, loved-on, and shepherded.
Life is made real when it’s experienced with friends and family.
Life is found in “being still and knowing that He is God.”
Life is most exhilarating in moments when you know without a doubt, “THIS is what I was made for.”

I love decorating and creating spaces that feel warm and inviting where life in all its forms and shapes can take place. But at the end of the day, it’s the people in the home that matter, not the stuff.
Just this morning during my Bible study I read this proverb which sums it all up quite well:

“Better a dry crust eaten in peace than a house filled with feasting – and conflict.”
Proverbs 17:1

That being said, I really should attend to my daughters who’ve taken it upon themselves to do school on their own today and just finished snacking on cheerios because it’s 2pm and I’ve not made them lunch yet because I’ve been busy doing this blog post!
Oh the irony… 🙂
