Finally after a good night’s sleep and a Wi-Fi connection that let us skype with our girls we were feeling rested and energized for a full day of getting the feel of Nyeri and how to “do life” there!
We enjoyed a scenic drive to 2 more medical
facilities, a lumber yard, then after lunch learned about how to do our grocery shopping… which is quite different than in America!… you’ll see why…

… instead of Coach Purses perfectly displayed you’ll find these lovely goats to suit your fancy!

 Downtown Nyeri is busy, crowded and confusing for a new-comer, but I’m sure we’ll get the hang of it after a few months. There’s no big box stores or one-stop shopping, so everything takes longer and you have to know where to go to purchase different grocery items. The hardware stores ask you what you need instead of letting you peruse the store and see what they’ve got in stock. They do business different, and that’s something we’ll have to get used to as we purchase building materials and supplies for the Belwop project.

downtown is a good place to be pick-pocketed, so we were always cautious about that.

 Ty found a goat-skin drum and made lovely music with it!

 Julianna (7) wants to be a doctor when she grows up. She is quite captivating with her big eyes and endearing smile.

 As
you can imagine with 19 children living at Belwop there is always
laundry ready to be hand-washed, hanged, folded, and put away.
Thankfully Veronica now has two women who serve as full-time helpers
because one woman cannot do it all!
