When Do We Leave?

“When do you leave for Kenya?”

That is the most frequently asked question in our lives right now… and understandably so 🙂
And we’re thankful that people are curious!
Even our daughters ask and pray daily about our plans to move to Kenya.

September is approaching and that was our target for departure. However, there is an order of events that MUST take place prior to our departure and their order cannot be rearranged.

STEP #1
Raise 90% of our Budget ($57,000)
Volunteers with Extreme Response must raise at least 90% of their budget prior to serving on the mission field so that while serving they are able to be fully devoted to their ministry work in the field and will not have to abandon their assignment due to finances running out. As of this post we are at 58% in our fundraising process!

STEP #2
Purchase Airline Tickets
Obviously it would be unwise for us to purchase tickets until our budget is raised because we could end up having to pay change fees again and again if our funding didn’t come in by the booked departure date.

STEP #3
Apply for Visa
US & Kenyan Embassy’s require that you have airline tickets booked in order to apply for Visas. This application process and approval can take a month or so.

So, as you can probably guess it is difficult for us to give a quick easy answer to the question “When do you leave?” There are several steps we are taking to prepare ourselves for serving overseas and we are experiencing great peace knowing that the timing of our departure is in God’s sovereign hands.

“We may make our plans but the Lord directs our STEPS.”
Proverbs 16:9
